February is Pit Bull Month on CesarsWay.com and it has provoked a lot of conversation on their site about breed, breeders and breedism. This video below is a result.
Pit bulls get a raw deal in the media and there are a lot of misconceptions about them. I love my pit bulls and they are invaluable members of my pack. Watch my video below and you can see how easily they integrate with all of my dogs of different breeds and meet my very special pit bull friend.

Thank you for what you do. I am a convert. I lived in the Southwest in a community where drugs were a serious problem. Every would be "dealer" had a huge, obviously poorly trained pit bull as a constant companion. They were an intimidation tactic, and frankly, they succeeded, at least with me.
ReplyDeleteI have moved to quieter digs. Two years ago, a pit mix came into my life, over my protests. She was a test for a 14 year old to "prove" her responsibility. Suffice to say that two weeks later, the dog was being ignored. The dogs name is Precious. Mine was skeptical!
Somehow, Precious and I bonded. She is an amazing animal. She is the most loving, smartest, and most playful dog I have ever had in my life. I won't say "owned," because that is a concept I never embraced.
We are constant companions, walking, playing with Frisbees, cuddling, in general, we are pals.
I would never have believed it.

How sweet. Good for you. I have adopted a female pit she was in a shelter and considered a "long term" border. Well, we know what that means. Anyway, I had to put my 12 yr old rottie down 14 months prior and I was hurting pretty bad. You just never stop missing them. So, I got Bella. I went a few times to the shelter, to get to know her, as I have experience with "as so called bad rap dog for 12 years", but not a pit bull dog. I was intent that it be a pit bull just because they get the bad rap. Well, she is the most loving...easy to teach dog I've ever had. I keep asking myself why someone dumped her off??? I love her and I know My Kaelee Girl (rottie that died) led me to her... and altho she is in NO WAY a replacement for Kaelee, she has captured my heart.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you gave Precious a chance given what you were shown by awful ignorant people that are really cowards that need a "front" and use this breed... how ignorant. I wish you and Precious many happy days. Peace.
